Living in a rural area can often provide a situation in which obtaining desirable music can be a challenge. As a record collector, said situation has risen to challenge me time and time again. I have found many great record stores in and around New York, but never one close enough to visit on a regular basis. Today, I revisited a store which I had no significant memories of. That is bound to change. Strawberry Fields Music, on the main strip in Potsdam is brilliant. It is everything that a record store should be, which will specify in a later post. The selection is great, the prices are fair (and can be negotiated a bit in my experience) and the Manager behind the counter seems to know 'everything that a record store should be'.
12'' singles and EPs have often struck my interest, I have no idea why. Anyway, that's what I got today.
Selections include-
Violent Femmes, Children of the Revolution
Talking Heads, Love for Sale
Let's Active
R.E.M, I Believe
The guy behind the counter is holding on to some more stuff for next time I go back. I hardly doubt he would fail to recognize me. That's what a record store should be.
